Variations, i.e. the same thing, but slightly different.
A variation is a rhythmic modification in the finale of a piece. In tango, it lasts for a short time, about 25 seconds (4 phrases), and is clearly faster than the musical theme itself. Tango composers rarely wrote variations; it was the work of performers, usually bandeonists. Did you know that there are even championships during which couples dance only variations? They are called “Pelando Variación.” So there’s a lot to explore!
But it is not everything. We want you to have the opportunity to taste what it’s like to work in a group, how integrating it is and what it’s like to be close to the masters… also while performing with them – while dancing variations. Exactly!
The performance is not obligatory, but we strongly encourage you to do so!
Importantly, you do not have to be an advanced dancer to take part in this seminar, all you need is to dance freely and regularly at milongas.
